Newborn baby died after being dragged along floor by umbilical cord when medics 'missed' birth

Bungling medics, who were pushing the mother into surgery, didn't notice the baby fall out of her womb and hit the ground head first
A newborn baby died after he was dragged several feet along the ground by his umbilical cord before bungling medics noticed he'd been BORN.

Devastated mum Shang Shao, 45, had been rushed to hospital after her waters broke when she was just seven months pregnant.

But, while she was being taken into surgery in a wheelchair in Luoyang City, China, the baby was captured on camera falling out of Shang’s womb and hitting the ground head first.
The shocking CCTV footage shows him being dragged along the floor still attached to his mum by his umbilical cord as unsuspecting staff continue pushing her.

It is only after a few moments that the nurses notice a trail of blood and stop to see what had happened.

Heartbroken dad Pan Mai, 46, who is now looking to sue the hospital, said: "This is the most traumatic day of our lives."

A hospital spokesman said: "The baby was taken into intensive care but died soon after of intracranial hematomas, a rupturing of a blood vessel between the skull and the brain.

"The doctor who suggested she be given a cesarean has been suspended from duty. He was inexperienced and should have consulted a senior doctor."
He added: "The nurses taking the mother have been disciplined as they should not have moved her in a wheelchair.

"They have been demoted and given a warning.

"This was a terrible incident and our hearts go out to the family."
