4 brilliant bra tips for full-busted women

Finding the perfect size bra is an essential part of dressing; a well-fitted bra can enhance your shape and give you all the support and confidence you need. Here are Dimitri Parolis' expert tips:

1. Back sizing

It is extremely important that you determine your correct back size.

This is done by measuring under the bust and around the torso to determine the size of the underband i.e. 32, 34, 36, 38 etc.

The underband must fit snugly from the breastbone right around the body, fastening in the centre of the back.

If the bra starts creeping up at the back, it’s a sign that the underband is too big.

2. The measurement across the bust and the difference between that and the underband measurement, in a formula, determines the cup size, i.e. A,B,C,D,E, etc.

Women often think that being a B cup is the ideal cup size as there is so much variety available in this size.

Fortunately, no matter what size bust you have, we do have the cup size available in many of our collections, like Simone Perele from Paris for a feminine classic sophisticated look or Affinitas from Los Angeles for a fresh colourful look for the younger spirited women particularly those who have small backs and large busts and Aubade from Paris for that sensual exotic trend setting woman who confidently shows cleavage and skin no matter what cup size she is.

3. The underwire should clearly separate the breasts and sit flush with the breastbone and against the skin as the wires curve around the under bust towards the armpits.

It is very important that the wire is not sitting too high into the armpit and pinching or piercing the flesh at the side of the bust.

Any fleshy part of the bust should be held firmly in the cup from under the arm pit so as to achieve a streamlined silhouette while always retaining comfort.

4. The straps are there to hold the bra up, but they are best to add stability. If your bra straps are digging into your shoulders, it’s a sign that the under band is too big therefore making the straps the main support to holding the bust up.

This will cause discomfort on the shoulders and is a reason why so many women eventually complain of a sore neck, shoulders and back.

So how exactly do you know if you are wearing the incorrect bra size?

Well, if you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, then it’s time to ditch your old bras and take Dimitri’s advice on finding your perfect bra.

Take the test:
Are your bra straps causing red marks on your shoulders or are they constantly slipping of your shoulders?
Do your breasts bulge over the cup edge or under your arm?
Is your bra band riding up your back?
Does the centre of your bra fail to touch your breastbone?
Is your bra giving you good posture?

No woman should have to choose between boring comfortable bras or pretty bras sacrificing comfort – they can and should have the right to both!
